I'm Fern, a 16-year-old, non-binary writer working to become a fiction and fantasy author! My birthday is on May 19, and I'm based in New Jersey, USA. I'm a junior in high school and am currently exploring colleges. When I'm not writing or doing homework, you can find me performing in the marching band, hosting meetings for my school's Domestic Arts Club (managing publicity for both), and participating in other musical ensembles in my area. Outside of that, I love to travel, analyze TV shows and movies, hang out with friends, attend street fairs, stare into the void, and more!
I'm incredibly passionate about art and believe it is essential to our society. That's one of the many reasons I want to contribute to it and show others who may be doubtful that they can pursue art as well, regardless of their interests, age, or what others may tell them! Art is for everyone, and it's created out of love. Of course, I hope to be successful in my chosen field. I also hope to encourage others to make their dreams a reality!
For as long as I can remember, I've always loved to tell stories. Although my academic writing has always been quite strong, it has consistently shone through in personal narratives. I also always loved to escape reality through vivid daydreams that usually included the soundtrack to whatever music I was interested in at the time. When I was little, I got into a chibi character-creator app, where I made up characters that I now hold very close to my heart. In fifth grade, I started drafting silly fictional tales led by fun-loving protagonists and filled with magic. During the Covid shutdown in March of that year, I connected with now-close friends who shared my love for crazy stories and crazier characters. We made several things together and went through many phases. In hindsight, as strange as they were, they got me to where I am now. I went from the kid who had no idea what to do with their future to a writer confidently carving their path to tomorrow.
